1. Three "killers" of metal corrosion
Electrochemical corrosion (most common) In a humid environment, "micro batteries" are formed on the metal surface. For example, when steel is exposed to moisture and oxygen, it will slowly rust like leakage. In a high-humidity workshop in summer, condensation on the surface of the workpiece is a typical cause.
Chemical corrosion When the metal is exposed to high temperature or strong acid and alkali, the metal is directly "gnawed away". For example, when rolling steel, high-temperature oxide scale is a chemical corrosion product.
Invisible destroyer-handprint corrosion The salt and acidic substances in the sweat of human hands will leave corrosion marks on smooth workpieces, especially precision parts.
Tips: It is recommended to control the humidity of the workshop below 50% during the rainy season, and wear gloves when handling!
2. Practical guide to oil selection
Look at the material: Aluminum parts are prone to corrosion → Choose oils containing amine additives Titanium alloys have poor heat dissipation → High cooling cutting oil is required
Look at the process: High-speed processing (such as grinding) → Water-based liquids have fast heat dissipation Heavy-load stamping → Oil-based liquids have stronger pressure resistance
Money-saving tips: Centralized liquid supply systems can reuse oils, but the pH value and concentration need to be tested regularly to avoid bacterial growth and failure.
