How to choose gear grease?

In the use of reduction motors, problems such as gear wear, loud noise, and difficulty in starting are often a headache. In fact, these problems are likely due to improper selection of gear grease. Choosing the right grease can not only improve the operating efficiency of the equipment, but also extend the life of the gears. So, how to choose the right gear grease?

First, pay attention to the base oil of grease. The base oil determines the lubricating properties of grease, and synthetic oil has obvious advantages in this regard. Compared with mineral oil, synthetic oil has better low-temperature fluidity and stronger antioxidant properties, and is especially suitable for equipment working in low-temperature environments. Greases like PAO (polyolefin) and esters perform well under low-temperature conditions and can ensure smooth startup of equipment.

Second, choose a suitable thickener. Thickeners play a stabilizing role in greases, and common ones are lithium-complex and polyurea-based. For high-load, high-speed gear systems, lithium-complex greases can provide good high-temperature resistance; while polyurea-based greases are more suitable for equipment running for a long time, with excellent anti-wear properties and lubrication effects.

Finally, the importance of additives cannot be ignored. Additives in gear grease can enhance its anti-wear, anti-oxidation and extreme pressure properties. Anti-wear agents and extreme pressure agents can effectively reduce friction and gear damage and extend equipment life. Choosing the right additive is the key to improving grease performance.

In short, when choosing gear grease, factors such as base oil, thickener and additives should be considered comprehensively. Only by choosing the right grease can the reduction motor run stably, reduce failures and repairs, and provide strong guarantee for the long life and efficient operation of the equipment.
