Are you using the right motor oil? Don't mix or add too much

The quality and safety of motor oil (engine lubricant), known as the "blood" of the car, has always been a concern of car owners. However, some consumers are obsessed with high-quality and high-grade motor oils. There are many types of high-grade motor oils on the market, and the brands are mixed. The product standards adopted are also different. Consumers often only look at the brand when purchasing, ignoring the vehicle's own requirements for the performance of motor oil.

Recently, the Sichuan Provincial Market Supervision and Administration Bureau issued a quality and safety consumption reminder for motor oil products, reminding consumers to try to choose products produced by well-known manufacturers when purchasing, and choose to purchase through formal channels. At the same time, pay attention to not mixing two or more brands of motor oil.

Motor oil, that is, engine lubricant.

Motor oil is a liquid or semi-solid lubricant used in various types of automobiles and mechanical equipment to reduce friction and protect machinery and processed parts. It mainly plays the role of lubrication, auxiliary cooling, rust prevention, cleaning, sealing and buffering.

Engine oil is made of 80% to 95% base oil and 5% to 20% additives blended at a certain temperature. Additives are classified into detergents, anti-wear agents, anti-foaming agents, viscosity index improvers, etc. The type and quality of base oil determine the basic performance of lubricants, while additives can make up for or improve the insufficient performance of base oil, or give lubricant products some new properties, and are an indispensable component of engine oil.

The motor oil label includes two parts: engine oil grade classification and viscosity specification.

my country classifies according to API standards. The general specifications are from SA to SN. The later the letters, the higher the grade of the oil, which means that there will be more additives in the engine oil to protect the engine, and the higher its quality grade.

For the sake of your car, you need to be careful when choosing engine oil.

When purchasing automotive oil, you should try to choose products produced by well-known manufacturers and purchase them through regular channels. You should avoid purchasing products without manufacturers and API authorization marks;

During use, do not mix two or more brands of oil. Since different brands of oil may use different additives, mixing may cause oil deterioration, thereby damaging vehicle parts.

At the same time, these two aspects of "common sense" should be noted: the amount of oil added is not the more the better. Excessive oil often jumps into the combustion chamber and burns, causing the vehicle to burn oil, carbon deposits in the engine to increase sharply, lubrication effect to decrease, fuel consumption to increase, and power to decrease significantly;

It is not entirely applicable to change the oil when it turns black. Since automotive oil on the market generally adds cleaning decomposition agents, the color of the oil tends to turn black after a period of use, but the oil at this time has not completely deteriorated.

We should also pay attention to environmental protection and health. It is strictly forbidden to discharge waste oil directly into the ditch or pour it into the soil. Waste oil and waste liquid should be collected in special barrels and then handed over to government-approved recyclers for recycling. Do not dump them at will. People with skin allergies or scratches should avoid direct contact with engine oil.
